The Emergency Department (ED) is the most critical department in hospitals. Crowdedness and long waiting times of patients in the ED are the most common harmonies problems that hospitals are suffering from. This book provides guidelines to develop a Cellular Service System (CSS) strategy that aims at reducing the average waiting time of the patient in the ED and improving the utilization of nursing staff using Simulation and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Activity-Based Costing (ABC) technique was connected to the ED simulation model so as to determine the costs for each room in ED, including entrance cost, materials cost, medical staff and equipment operation's cost under several factor combinations. This book is valuable in reducing the waiting time as well as improving nurse utilization in ED, which may result in huge cost savings and lead to improved ED performance.
