The school opened in 2006 on the site of the former Hillside School with Dr. Dena Coleman assuming her fourth Headship. Yavneh College has undergone a partial refurbishment, with further building work scheduled to take place from Spring 2008. The school took its first intake of 90 Year 7 pupils in September 2006, with a further 124 in 2007. A small Sixth-Form was admitted in September 2008. The school is expected to be fully operational with around 1000 pupils in 2010. As well as supporting the National Curriculum, Yavneh College teaches Modern Hebrew, Jewish History and Jewish Studies. The school places a great emphasis on Jewish studies and afternoon prayers are held everyday. There are morning prayers on Monday and Thursday morning which are compulsory. There is also a charity wing called Am Echad meaning "1 people". It has a programme called Enrichment, which is held every day, except Friday, after lunchtime.
