Produktbeschreibung
This book contains articles from northern and southern authors, which represent an alternative view on child work. Giving concrete examples from Latin America, Africa and India they explain how the children struggle for their rights, human dignity and a better life. Furthermore educational projects and concepts are introduced. In this context "protagonism" plays a crucial role. A new concept of childhood based on the experiences and ideas of active children appears, which differs from the western ideal of protected childhood. The protagonism of working children in Third World countries aims at the protection of children from certain dangers and gives them an important and active role in society. All the articles mean to give a critical evaluation of child work and refer to the demands of the "International Movement of Working Children", whose main documents can be found in the appendix of the book.
