The Authors: V. A. Howard and Israel Scheffler have been co-directors of the Philosophy of Education Research Center at Harvard University since 1983. Among V. A. Howard's books are: Learning By All Means (Peter Lang, 1992), Varieties of Thinking (1990) and Artistry, The Work of Artists (1982). Among Israel Scheffler's books are: Reason and Teaching (1973), Science and Subjectivity (1967), and In Praise of the Cognitive Emotions (1991).
