Great Bedwyn The Forest of Savernake Wiltshire 1212 Mabel Wetherspring is a shapeshifter With three turns of her body to withershynnes - against the direction of the sun - she changes into any animal she wishes. A monster has been seen flying over Bedwyn; breathing fire, scattering cattle, and worrying sheep - someone must come to deal with the pest! But it's not a monster, just Mabel Wetherspring having a bit of shapeshifting fun. The villagers know absolutely nothing about her ability to become any animal she wishes - and that's the way she'd like to keep it! Sir Gabriel Warrener is deputed to find the beast and slay it. Should Mabel tell Gabriel that she was the flying monster or should she search for the monster with him in order to keep her beau in Bedwyn? They don't find the flying beast, but they do find a dead body and it's certainly not a victim of the fire breathing monster. All thought of the search banished from their minds, Mabel and Gabriel set off to discover the truth about the dead woman and her strange family. Another Wetherspring and Warrener adventure leads us into a world of fantastic beasts and an even more deadly monster walking on two legs, preying on the young children of Savernake Forest!
