As the networking technologies are developing rapidly, more users want to control their home appliances from outside the home. In this book, proposed system lets you monitor your home from any location using an internet. It provides Two Subsystems:Controlling devices over the internet using IP protocol and devices controlled through a mobile application using GPRS protocol. The system enables the user to check, and if needed, change the current status of the Appliance at the same time or at a specified time in the future via a user interface device.The design of this system is based on an embedded controller which is connected to a PC-based home Web server via RS232 serial port. The software of the system is based on the combination of Java 1.6, J2me and PHP 5.0. The system is scalable and allows additional appliances to be added to it with no major change to its core. Other than Home Automation this technology has a wide range of applications.
