This activity book provides hours of fun and education with 48 drawings of windmills from around the world to color. The mills were built in the 1700s and 1800s. Many have been restored for visitors today. Learn a little history for each mill, from New England, the American Midwest, West Coast, Texas, Maryland, and Virginia, and across the Atlantic to mills in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, England, Portugal, and Greece. Learn curious facts, including the tallest windmill in the United States, windmills with eight arms, and with sails hung on the arms to catch the wind. An elderly New England miller once had to be rescued while attaching sails because he forgot to set the brake and the arms started turning while he was on them. Grades 3 - 5.
