Autorenporträt
Beginning in 1959, Gary Robble was the lead singer in a college acapella quartet called The Parsons. In 1962, they moved to Nashville, eventually replacing the Jordanaires as the Grand Ole Opry quartet. In 1964, they teamed with Sonny James, who, after his mammoth 1957 hit ¿Young Love¿, was struggling to maintain his career. They became The Southern Gentlemen, and for the next seven years made country music history. They released twenty-four singles, all in the top three on the Billboard charts. From 1967 to 1971, Sonny James with the Southern Gentlemen had sixteen #1 hits in a row -- a feat unmatched to this day by any solo artist in any genre. They left Sonny in 1971, and Gary started his own business in Nashville.
