Autorenporträt
Ben Hoare is an award-winning journalist who has written and edited many natural-history books and magazines for DK, the BBC, London's Natural History Museum and many others. Think of a well-known wildlife or nature writer who writes in English, and Ben has probably edited their words at some point. Since 2008 he has been Features Editor of BBC Wildlife Magazine. In 2015 Ben was awarded the Dilys Breese Medal for science communication by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) - he is one of only fifteen people to hold the award. Lucy Rose graduated from Falmouth University, UK, with a BA in Illustration. Her work is largely inspired by vintage prints and art deco posters, using limited and muted colour palettes. Lucy has always loved the print processes and this is reflected in her work. She combines handprint-inspired layers with pen-drawn figures and puts them together using digital techniques. Her work features a mixture of both narrative and decorative elements to create striking, graphic compositions, and has appeared in, among others, The Daily Telegraph, Deloitte, Financial Times, Johns Hopkins Health Review, and Royal Ascot Magazine.
Rezensionen
Wild City by Ben Hoare (editorial consultant for BBC Wildlife) introduces some of the magnificent wildlife among us every single day. Interesting facts give explanations of how different urban settings help animals thrive - you'll find out why Cape Town's weather attracts lots of sea life, and where reptiles like to hang out in Bangkok - while detailed illustrations will leave you with an impression of what these global cities feel like overall. The countryside is welcoming for its own finds, but Wild City shows us that you don't have to leave town to discover the cool wildlife around Discover Wildlife
