Vern Blanchette is a graduate of the University of Alabama (B.S. - Physics/Mathematics) and the University of Texas at Austin (M.Ed.). He has taught in public schools, community colleges, and for General Electric Company in the commercial nuclear power industry. He recently retired as an engineer with URS Corporation at the Kennedy Space Center. Mr. Blanchette, married with six children, has been writing for over thirty years, and is an alumnus of the Christian Writer's Conference at Lake Yale, Florida. His unpublished works include several science fiction stories, an historical romance novel, and a two-volume handbook on the topic of how to survive a terrorist's nuclear attack on a large city. Safe Schools Now, Arming America's Teachers, begun October 6, 2011 after the Sandy Hook massacre, is his most recent published work.
