I woke up slumped against the wall. I heard muffled laughs through the walls of my mysterious prison. I knew now my imprisonment had something to do with a bombing, that they clearly thought I had something to do with. Did my software have something to do with this? It didn't make sense, my software helped with security operations, not a bomb. My leg throbbed, stung, and felt like fire burned inside the wound. I peered down my pants to inspect the damage, and the bandage showed evidence blood soaked through. The gauze had an orange-sized section of ooze of dark red and brown. Maybe he had pushed the bandage into my leg. "What happened?" I spoke out loud. "You happened," a voice lurked in the corner. I didn't see him, but I suspected my ranga had waited for me. I need my memory to come back, find out who and why they put me here. I better do it before whatever this ranga planned next. Autorenporträt
The epiphany to leave D.C. didn't come to Hollis until over 15 years passed which included: no contact with the shadier, drug-addicted, and delinquent yet loveable portions of the family; letting go of true love twice; passing on the chance at a family; and most importantly, giving up any attempt to maintain good mental health. It started with the required polygraph to keep a security clearance having a central note of ensuring Hollis did not provide aid to the enemy, a downright offensive accusation given the dedication to this country since deciding on this life at the age of seven. The clearance was renewed, but the seed to leave planted firmly and started to grow. A few more years of living through hell made it clear, the passion was there but there was nothing left in the tank to give. It was time to join the common folk and support the country from way behind the lines. Then the books started to fall out of the soul and onto the page. Hollis started a new mission, this time without all the dangers. We call her H.K. and these are her tales.
