An important task for each country is the preservation of its old landraces. They have good taste, greater flexibility and better adaptability to the environmental conditions. A significant number of these resources is stored in the gene bank of the Institute of Plant Genetic Resources based in Sadovo, Bulgaria. These are mainly groups of grain cereals, legumes, forages and vegetables.
