It's the first day of kindergarten, and Miss Mindy (the teacher) is very excited to meet all her new students and get to know them. She's even more excited to tell them about the amazing field trip she's taking them on to celebrate the beginning of the school year: riding horses at Hi-Jack Ranch! The students can't wait to get there and pick out their favourite horses, especially O'Malley and Mittens, who have big plans! They're going to explore the whole kingdom and look for dragons and treasure! Of course, Mittens hadn't known there would be dragons when he'd volunteered, but it was sure to be an amazing adventure anyway. Right? The first book in a series that will follow this same group of children through their kindergarten journey and onward to grade school, Jackson Creek's Little Schoolhouse Adventures explores the fun adventures children can enjoy together (through learning and imagination) as they grow together and form strong bonds of friendship along the way.
Autorenporträt
Married co-authors Ronald and Liana Hiebert always enjoyed reading to their daughter when she was young and believe that children's books and reading together as a family help promote imagination, learning, and stronger family bonds. Ronald's experience as a teacher's aid, working with intellectually and physically handicapped children in the Edmonton Public School Division, only heightened this belief. And Liana's background in education, with a BA in Psychology, and her experience as a licensed practical nurse, did the same. They have dreamed of creating this series of books for many years and finally decided that now was the right time. They hope to write and publish several Jackson Creek's Little Schoolhouse Adventures a year, from their home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where Liana was born and raised and where Ronald has lived since he was eight years old.
