A collection of first-hand accounts of life in time of Jane Austen (1775-1817), showing how social standing and etiquette were prime considerations of the period. This title reveals the stark contrast that existed in various aspects of domestic and public life, including gulfs between rich and poor, and lives of men and women.
This edition offers firsthand accounts of life in the late 18th and early 19th centuries through Austen's novels, letters, biographies, memoirs, and newspapers, and unpublished material from The Jane Austen Society.
