Fukuzo Amabe, M. A. (1974), Kyoto University, is Professor of Eastern History and Middle Eastern Studies at Tokyo Keizai University (the University of Economic Studies in Tokyo). He has written monographs and articles on medieval Islamic history, including the Emergence of the ʿAbbāsid Autocracy: The ʿAbbāsid Army, Khurāsān and Adharbayjān (Kyoto University Press, 1995).
