Jeff Richard, a fresh high school graduate, enlisted into the US Marine Corps and found himself in the heart of the Vietnam War, where the enemy was just outside of the compound. The camp is bombed by incoming rockets daily, which at times creates mass destruction. However, fear from the enemy only comes after nightfall since the camp's soldiers live a normal life during the day. Jeff learns much about the country from his friend, Vick. Together they visit the outer village where marines spend time away from the camp. Through Vick, Jeff then meets Rich and Terry-two marines living in the same hut, creating trouble everywhere. Rich is always looked at as a con artist and thief while Terry, his partner, is a follower-not too bright when it comes to doing the right thing.

Charles Feggans lived in an area not far from Miller Homes for many years. He would often visit friends there. He knew about the gangs and hustlers. About the police coming many times trying to control bad situations. Miller Homes received its name as "Killer Homes" because the violence that continued to exist until its last days. Charles now lives on the out skirts of Trenton where he helps take care of his grantson part time and has remarried to a wonder lady who supports his efforts.
