He played semi-pro football in Wales and England before becoming a teacher in 1959. He has taught in England, Australia, Ghana and Canada. Retiring in 1990, he and his wife Shirley now live in New Brunswick, Canada. They have two children - Terry Ann and Craig - and four grandchildren.
