Thermosetting polymers, such as polyesters and epoxies, exhibit several useful characteristics due to the high degree of cross-linking between individual polymer chains. Typical qualities include a high glass transition temperature, high modulus and specific strength, creep resistance, and good solventresistance. The sliding wear performance of Epoxy composites filled with nano-sized Al2O3 particles was studied in this paper. For this study, Al2O3 nano particles were synthesized by solution combustion process and size was found to be 28nm from X-ray Diffraction (XRD),Particle size distribution was estimated by Particle Size Analyser, Morphology of Al2O3 nanoparticles by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy for energy band gap of Al2O3 nano particles. Epoxy/ Al2O3 nano composite was synthesized with Al2O3 nano particles and resin with different hardeners like K-6, K-47 with appropriate amounts. The wear performances were studied by using pin-on-disc set up.
