This book is about Socio-Cultural Assessment of Primary Education: A Study among the Yanadi, A Scheduled Tribe in Andhra Pradesh. Major objectives of the study are: To study ethnographic profile including levels of literacy among the Yanadi, a Schedule Tribe in Nellore and Chittoor districts of Andhra Pradesh; To examine the enrollment, absenteeism and dropouts among the Yanadi children; to understand the extent of their participation in Primary Education; to understand opinion and attitudes of parents towards school education and in sending/not sending their children to school education; to study the efforts being taken by the Government and Non-Government Organizations in promoting primary education among the Yanadis and their relevance in the socio-cultural context of the Yanadis, and given suggestions to enhance the participation of Yanadi children in primary education. The government is establishing many welfare schemes for the development of Yanadi tribes but they are not reaching the destination. In between the dealers and the mediators are polluting and corrupting the schemes "please send children to school".
Autorenporträt
Dr. Ch. Devendra Kumar M.S.W, M,.Sc, M. Phil, Ph.D in the Department of Anthropology, did extensive field work in the areas of tribal education. He has presented research papers in reputed journals, authored three books in LAP-Lambart publishers. He cleared UGC NET three times and APSET in Social Work.
