WILLIAM MYLNE (1734-90) was a Scottish architect who built the North Bridge of Edinburgh, Scotland. TED RUDDOCK, a historian on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century architecture, has authored Arch Bridges and Their Builders, 1735-1835 and edited Masonry Bridges, Viaducts, and Aqueducts. JENNI CALDER is an independent scholar and writer based in Edinburgh. She is the author of more than twenty-five books, including Lost in the Backwoods: Scots and the North American Wilderness and Frontier Scots.
