In "Towards an AI-Infused Revolution in K12 Education", celebrated author and renowned educationalist Adam Smith takes us on an enlightening journey into the future of primary and secondary education. This book encapsulates a thought-provoking exploration of the increasing role of artificial intelligence in reshaping the landscape of education, as we've traditionally known it. Smith successfully merges his profound knowledge of pedagogy and cutting-edge technology to present a comprehensive examination of how AI can catalyze improvements in K12 education, not just in developed nations, but around the globe. The book provides a fresh perspective on the applications of AI in classrooms - from personalized learning, interactive simulations, to intelligent tutoring systems, and beyond. But it doesn't stop there. Smith boldly delves into the ethical implications and potential risks of integrating AI into education, urging educators, policymakers, and parents to consider the nuanced impacts of AI. He addresses questions like 'How do we ensure data privacy in a digitally driven education system?' and 'What measures can be taken to avoid bias in AI-assisted teaching?' The book is interspersed with real-life case studies from schools that have already embraced AI, offering a glimpse into the transformative power of this technology. Smith's insightful commentary also extends to the role of teachers in this AI-driven revolution, and how the teacher-student relationship can evolve for better learning outcomes. "Towards an AI-Infused Revolution in K12 Education" is not just an exploration of the potential of AI in education. It is a compelling manifesto for a new era in education, one which strikes a balance between traditional pedagogy and modern technological advancements. This riveting work is a must-read for anyone interested in the future of education and the role AI has to play in it.
Autorenporträt
Adam Smith (16 June 1723 - 17 July 1790) was a Scottish economist, philosopher and author as well as a moral philosopher, a pioneer of political economy and a key figure during the Scottish Enlightenment, also known as ''The Father of Economics'' or ''The Father of Capitalism.'' Smith wrote two classic works, The Theory of Moral Sentiments (1759) and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations (1776). The latter, often abbreviated as The Wealth of Nations, is considered his magnum opus and the first modern work of economics. In his work, Adam Smith introduced his theory of absolute advantage. Smith studied social philosophy at the University of Glasgow and at Balliol College, Oxford. After graduating, he delivered a successful series of public lectures at the University of Edinburgh, leading him to collaborate with David Hume during the Scottish Enlightenment. Smith obtained a professorship at Glasgow, teaching moral philosophy and during this time, wrote and published The Theory of Moral Sentiments. In his later life, he took a tutoring position that allowed him to travel throughout Europe, where he met other intellectual leaders of his day. Smith laid the foundations of classical free market economic theory. The Wealth of Nations was a precursor to the modern academic discipline of economics. In this and other works, he developed the concept of division of labour and expounded upon how rational self-interest and competition can lead to economic prosperity. Smith was controversial in his own day and his general approach and writing style were often satirised by writers such as Horace Walpole.
