Upon graduation, he attended law school at NYU while interning at Rush Management/Def Jam Records. After graduating from NYU, Moscowitz worked as a lawyer in the mergers and acquisitions department of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom for a year before being asked by music industry pioneer Lyor Cohen to rejoin the company as the head of Rush Communications, the holding company for all of Cohen and partner Russell Simmons entertainment assets. It was an enormous risk for Simmons and Cohen to entrust their businesses to Moscowitz given that at 26, he had no practical experience.
