Intraoral clinical applications of tissue expanders require extensive knowledge of tissue regeneration. A good surgeon can increase tissue surface area through mechanical creep and biological stretching. This is used to reshape the defect. It improves soft tissue quality and quantity, promotes primary wound closure, and reduces the incidence of wound dehiscence and bone graft exposure. The only thing the surgeon should keep inmind is correct placement of the expander and control of the expansion rate.
