With selections dating from the fourth century, this invaluable compendium chronicles religious tenets gleaned from a broad range of the Catholic Church's spiritual masters: those whose writings have endured through the generations, placing their works in the elite category of Timeless Classics . W. Bruce Ingram readily acknowledges that reading these iconic texts can prove both daunting and time-consuming. For this reason, he has chosen to artfully extract and synthesize the authors' sublime insights, mystical experiences, and wise counsel through the avant-garde medium of "found poetry." Having successfully employed this same method in his previous work, Lisieux's Poet Laureate: Gems from Saint Thèrése's Correspondence, Ingram hopes that, once again, readers will appropriate these found poems-fifty-six in all-as prayerful overtures designed to arouse and sustain a more ardent faith in and intimate rapport with God.
