Between the covers of this book, I attempt to take you on a journey through the eyes of the disciple that Jesus loved. Not wanting to quote scripture, but to fill in the blanks of scripture. To help you see what John saw. To hear what John heard. To feel what John felt. You will begin this journey on Golgotha as John had to not only deal with his own grief, but also console the Blessed Mother Mary. Then to the tomb, and on to the upper room to wait and cry and wonder, when will they come for us? Three days pass and the Lord rises from the dead! Even with the new strength from the knowledge of the Resurrection, we hide in the locked room, then He appears to us! The second time he appears, Thomas is there, having not believed that we saw and talked with the Risen Christ. Jesus invites Thomas to put his fingers in the nail holes in His hands and feet and his hand into his side. Then Jesus asks for something to eat! A month passes and Jesus leads you and the others out to the vicinity of Bethany, which is situated on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives, a half a day's hike! There, He says that He will send an advocate who will always be with us and remind us all He said and did. Then blessed us all and floated into the sky. Then two men in white robes appeared and said "Why do you stand here looking into the sky?" We all feel foolish as this implies a gentle reminder to us that our task and focus should not be solely on the sight of Jesus ascending, but on the mission He had entrusted to us. The journey continues with the daunting task of preaching the Good News to all and more personally, the task of keeping Mother Mary safe from all harm, even if it takes bringing her to a safe city far away. Enjoy the images and dialog John may have had with the other Apostles, Mary and those he ministered to. If you like this type of book, please return to the book seller's web page and rate it so that I will be encouraged to write more of what the Holy Spirit tells me to.
Autorenporträt
John is a cradle Catholic, the middle child of five, who grew up in upstate New York. Vatican Two saved him from learning Latin the year he trained to be an Altar Server. He attended Catholic School until High School when he transitioned to public school. He received two associates degrees from the local Community College, then started a job in a fortune 500 company as a draftsman. He had met the woman of his dreams and they had the first of their children 9 months after they were married. Six months later, the three headed off to the State University of New York at Buffalo where John studied Mechanical Engineering. By the time John graduated with his BS in Mechanical Engineering, they had their second son and headed back to his hometown to continue his 40 year career and have a third son and finally his daughter. He and his wife now have a son in law, a daughter in law and six beautiful grandchildren. Several events led him to deepen his faith - joining a Catholic Men's Bible Study; attending several Catholic Men's Conferences; attending a Catholic Men's Emmaus Retreat as well as being on several Emmaus Retreat Teams (including giving witness talks); attending daily Mass; Praying the Holy Rosary daily and being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Church and Nursing Homes in the area. His engineering job brought him across the USA as well as Mexico, Europe and Asia where he enjoyed creating his own personal Pilgrimages to Holy Sites and sharing the experiences and pictures with family and friends. His retirement ambitions include enjoying his children and grandchildren, continued travel to holy sites around the world and sharing his Catholic faith wherever he can.
