The Zen of Travel combines wisdom discovered during journeys with breathtaking photos. Written by an award-winning author, The Zen of Travel offers original enlightenment that reflects the insight found at every destination…and along the way. Fifty inspiring photos are packed inside a full-color book that makes a perfect gift. Whether you use a guidebook, a trip book generated by a travel agency, or book your own trip, travel and tourism offer profound lessons. Cheap airline tickets, which hotel to use, who booked the cheapest flight, and whether you used Travelocity or Expedia all fall by the wayside the moment you take the keys to the rental car or even the day you pack your luggage. Lessons about the external world and internal life are discovered by flying, riding the train, taking a cruise, or opting for walking tours. The only visa you'll need is curiosity, and the only passport that matters is a sense of adventure. The Zen of Travel distills those experiences into one enriching book. A soulful collection for every business or adventure traveler, holiday lover, backpacker, and anyone seeking a moment of peace, The Zen of Travel celebrates the journeys and the destinations that can make us happier, healthier, calmer, and more loving. The softcover edition uses a single-page layout for an affordable price point. The hardcover edition displays each saying across a beautiful two-page spread with the full-color photo on the righthand page, making it the perfect gift. Laine Cunningham, a three-time recipient of The Hackney Award, writes fiction that takes readers around the world. Her debut novel, The Family Made of Dust, is set in the Australian Outback, while Reparation is a novel of the American Great Plains. She is the editor of Sunspot Literary Journal.
Autorenporträt
After Laine Cunningham's debut novel manuscript won a national literary award, Jack Scovil became her agent. Mr. Scovil worked with Norman Mailer, Carl Sagan, Morris West and Arthur C. Clark. Their ten-year relationship ended when he passed. Laine then developed a new fiction voice that resulted in On a Rush of Silent Wings, a literary black comedy dealing with income inequality and the illusions we choose to believe. Currently she is developing an epic historical novel set in Europe during the scientific revolution before the Enlightenment. Her novels include The Family Made of Dust: A Novel of Loss and Rebirth in the Australian Outback, which won two national awards. Beloved, a sensual noir thriller, follows an FBI agent who must access the dark power of the goddess Kali to bring down two serial killers. In Reparation, a Lakota Sioux man must save a sister and his lover from a sinister peyote cult. Laine's goal for her fiction is to spur readers into dialog about our society and the parallels found in history. When individuals recognize how large issues build on multiple small elements, many of which were taken up by individuals just like them, they recognize that everyone can foment change. As a publishing consultant with twenty years of experience, she has written Writing While Female or Black or Gay: Diverse Voices in Publishing.
