R.A.Gilbert read Philosophy and Psychology at the University of Bristol and later received his doctorate from the University of London, for a thesis on Esoteric Publishing in the Nineteenth Century. He is a retired antiquarian bookseller, and the author and editor of many book on Western Esotericism, including studies of the Golden Dawn and its members.
