Joel Bernard is a long-time nature man who loves hiking, planting trees, and gardening. Barnard is a member of the Long Tom Watershed Organization, Environmental Action Committee, Community Action Committee, Community Conservation, and Sister City Committee. For fifteen years, Bernard has been involved with disaster relief and housing issues, and he is an active board member for his town. He is married and has three sons.
