Clarence Michael James Stanislaus Dennis, better known as C. J. Dennis, was born in South Australia in 1876. A journalist, among other occupations, he was much loved for his humorous poems, especially The Songs of a Sentimental Bloke. He died in Melbourne in 1938. Alongside A. B. 'Banjo' Paterson and Henry Lawson, both of whom he collaborated with, he ranks among Australia's most popular poets. Jack Thompson is an Australian actor and one of the major figures of Australian cinema. He is best known as a lead actor in several acclaimed Australian films including such classics as The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, The Man from Snowy River and Breaker Morant, and for roles in the Hollywood films Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones.
