The study investigates the two existing interpreting examinations in Taiwan: the Coalition Chinese and English Interpretation Professional Examination (coalition exam) held by the Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation Studies of Fu Jen Catholic University and the Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation of National Taiwan Normal University, and the Chinese and English Translation and Interpretation Competency Examination held by the Ministry of Education (MoE exam). This study presents the exam designs, practices, materials, grading systems and interpretation evaluation criteria of these two examinations. By comparing and analysing the features of both systems based on the feedback grid, the shared principles as well as the limitations of these two exams will be drawn.
