Autorenporträt
Carlos Fidel Espinoza writes and produces music along the US / Mexico border. He won the 2021 Southwest Book Award for his first poetry collection, "How to Lie to a Customs Agent." His work has appeared on Vice, NPR, Words on A Wire, State of the Arts, the Border Tuner, and The Smithsonian Museum of the American Latino Center. You can read his writing in Acentos Review, Barrio Panther, Spry Literary Journal, Border Senses, Pilgrimage, and Shantih Literary Journal, among others.Carlos contributed to editing Andres Montoya's posthumous poetry collection, A Jury of Trees. He was a featured reader at "Together We Will Be a Song, a Celebration of Andres Montoya's Life and Work." As the editor-in-chief of the Barrio Panther Literatura Magazine, Carlos advocates for literature and writing on US / Mexico border. He has taught courses in creative writing, poetry, Chicanx literature, and rhetoric and composition at the University of Texas at El Paso, El Paso Community College, and Cochise College.
