The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew houses the largest and most diverse botanical collections in the world. The illustration archives contain more than 170,000 prints and drawings of plants. It is one of London's top tourist attractions and is a World Heritage Site. Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840) has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time, known for iconic rose and lily designs. He was an official court artist of Marie Antoinette and his patrons included both of Napoleon's wives - Empress Joséphine and Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma. Walter Hood Fitch (1817-1892) was a renown botanical illustrator, especially celebrated for his color lithograph plates featured in Curtis's Botanical Magazine.
