In this backdrop, women take necessary measures for adapting with flood related hazards. This book aims to look at the role of women in adaptation to flood hazard. The book finds, wome are vulnerable to disasters due to inadequate education, knowledge, vulnerable living places and lack of awareness. The study observed that well equiped shelter centre, long and short term knowledge dissemination training, awareness session on food management and adoptation strategies can protect women from vulnerabilities in disasters. If necessary measures can be taken, women can play an effective role in disaster management in Bangladesh, particularly in flood related disaster.

Afroza Taznin is working in development sector in Banglades for last four years. She has completed post graduation in Geography and Environment and currently doing Ph.D in Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. She completed fellowship with UNEP-EPLC. Afroza Taznin aims to work in Gender and Disaster Management, GIS and Remote Sensing in future.
