The research examines the role of microfinance in Small scale enterprise as a pillar to economic development. As the past, government has initiated series of microfinance programs targeted at the poor with the overriding objective of making credit readily available to those who were traditionally denied access to credit. Such credits in the world over were used for the development of small and medium scale enterprise, which has been described as the springboard for sustainable development. The research adopts the survey type of research. The study area was Bauchi local government. Data collection was through interviews, including the documented relevant data, and questionnaires. 250 questionnaires were distributed to the residents of Bauchi metropolis. The methods that were used to analyze the data in this work were tables and percentages. Also, the opinions of the candidates on each question are weighed using simple percentage. The problems hindering micro finance in providing credit facilities to small scale enterprises was determined; the research will advance the efficiency and effectiveness of micro finance policies hampering small scale development in Nigeria.
