The book serves as a reference document with both tutorial and research/technological value on the importance of catalysis for the sustainable production of biofuels and biochemicals. Although it includes some general elements regarding the whole chain of biomass production-conversion-environment-economy-LCA, the main focus is placed on the description of the state-of-the-art on catalysts and catalytic processes that are expected to play a decisive role toward the "green" production of fuels and chemicals from biomass.
