The book presents results of a long-term project aimed at the inquiry into the field of Anglicisms used in Czech sports terminology, and how these words are used in Czech sports vernacular. Attention was focused mainly on the contemporary state of Czech sports terminology, i.e., the newly incorporated terms still not fully adapted, as well as the older terms that were fully or partially adapted into the Czech language. Of particular importance was the occurrence and usage of English sports words in the Czech language and their level of adaptation to the Czech orthographic, phonological and morphological systems. The aim of this process was to show how Anglicisms used in Czech sports terminology are being adapted to the Czech language on different levels.
