We often talk about having a role model, someone who we can follow as a good example for our own life. However, the apostle Paul went a step further when he described himself as a pattern. Patterns are used in many industries, and they enable a particular item to be produced in the same shape and form, many times over. They are not just something to follow; they are something to duplicate. In The Pattern, we will look at two men who are excellent examples for us, Paul and David, with a view to reproducing their character. Both of these men lived remarkable lives with amazing accomplishments, but what is important is who they really were as people, their character. That is what matters most in the sight of God, and that is the pattern for us to duplicate. We are talking about a very high standard of relationship with God because we want to be counted as people He will fellowship with, even be called His friends. To help us, we will look into some of the aspects of the lives and David and Paul, including: · What really motivated them · How they handled trials · Their attitude toward their own shortcomings · The key to receiving revelation from God We trust that as we study these two men, we will be able to use them as patterns and create in us the vital aspects of their walk with God.
