Her novel Missing May received the Newbery Medal. She lives in Portland, Oregon. Preston McDaniels is the illustrator of the Phineas L. MacGuire series and Cynthia Rylant's Lighthouse Family series. He lives in Aurora, Nebraska, with his wife and two daughters.
