Barbara Ireland ist Herausgeberin von 36 Hours, Explorer und der demnächst gemeinsam von TASCHEN und der New York Times publizierten Cultured Traveler-Reisebuchreihe. Bei der New York Times war sie stellvertretende Redakteurin für den Reiseteil sowie die Meinungsseite. Sie hat an der Cornell Universität studiert und war an der Stanford-Universität John-S.-Knight-Stipendiatin für Journalismus. Die Autorin und Herausgeberin lebt in Uptown New York.
