Ross West is a native of Petersburg, Virginia and a graduate of Petersburg High School. He graduated from Virginia State University with a degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Military Science and served in the military for thirteen years and currently holds the rank of Captain and commands U.S. Army Reserve Unit located in Charleston, West Virginia. Ross's military experience as an Infantry officer helped prepared him for a career in law enforcement. He joined the Petersburg Bureau of Police in the fall of 2015 because he wanted to give back and help make a difference in the community he was raised. During his law enforcement career, he had earned and obtained several skill sets. Ross has experience in several different areas of law enforcement such as patrol division, police bike patrol unit, Special investigations, training division and has done several undercover operations. Ross has one son (Tahli West) who is six years of age and both currently reside in the Tri-Cities Area in Virginia. Ross was raised in a single parent household and experienced several years of homelessness growing up as a child. Through several devastating trials and tribulations that occurred in his life, Ross always had a passion to help others especially those who could not help themselves. Through hard work, perseverance and influence from several mentors, Ross's passion would later come true and gain him the fortune to serve both the nation and his community. Ross now gives back to teenage youth and young adults by being a mentor, role model and guide to help and influence others who have a passion to serve, protect and defend just as he.
