This is the second of two volumes that together provide an integrated picture of the Montenegrin Adriatic coast, presenting the natural components of the system as well as the chemical composition and chemical processes in the extended area.
This book covers all aspects of marine chemistry such as the hydrographic and oceanographic characteristics of seawater, the toxicity of heavy metals in the marine environment, the quality of marinas and maritime areas, and the legal regime for protecting the marine environment from pollution.
Given the breadth and depth of its coverage, the book offers an invaluable source of information for researchers, students and environmental managers alike.
Dr. Danijela Joksimovi¿ holds a PhD in Technical Sciences (Chemical Technology) and is a senior associate researcher in the Institute of Marine Biology, University of Montenegro. Since 2015 she is the Head of the Laboratory for Marine Chemistry and Oceanography and acts also as Quality Control Manager in accordance with the requirements of MEST ISO IEC 17025: 2011 standard in the Institute of Marine Biology. She is a member of the working group on food safety, veterinary and phytosanitary policy for the preparation of negotiations on the accession of Montenegro to the European Union. Her main research is focused on the determination of heavy metals in sediment and biological material, as well as anthropogenic impacts on the quality and condition of sea water in the Boka Kotorska Bay and the open sea coast. Dr. Mirko ¿urovi¿ is a senior scientific associate at the Laboratory of Ichthyology and Marine Fisheries at the Institute of Marine Biology, Universityof Montenegro.
