For years Susan Woodward Springer lived in Alaska and operated a mercantile in tiny Seldovia, a town that's accessible only by boat or plane. Yet for its little-known location, Seldovia has inspired four books of her children's book series The Misadventures of Seldovia Sam. An author, artist, and historian, Susan now lives in Idaho.
