"The more commonplace a person is, the more will his language bear the stamp of the community in which he lives" (Jespersen, 1946: 183). In this piece of work I intend to find a reasonable phonemic system to the Midlands (in England) represented by Yorkshire, and the city of Leeds' accent, as a model, and the various ways and factors tending towards R.P. Prof. Dr. Hamid Al-Hamadi was born in Basra, Iraq, and finished his B.A. at Basra Univ with distinction, his Dipl. at Edinburgh Univ, his M.A. at Leeds Univ, with distinction, and his Ph.D. at Basra Univ,on. in collaboration with Essex Univ, with distinction. He has many publications in Linguistics & Phonetics. He is also a poet.
