The rising role of banks and financial institutions in the Arab world and the world at large has made it necessary to consider the characteristics of the language used in the field of banking and finance. It is widely thought that the language of banking and finance in Arabic, LBFA for short, is linear or in other words filled with rigid figures, strict terms, and direct speech. The aim of the present thesis is to explore the distinctive features of LBFA from a pragma-syntactic perspective. Light is shed, too, on the communicative functions of the genres employed in this language.
