Dr. Vernita Black is a veteran who retired after serving 21 years in the United States Navy. During her time in the military, Dr. Black earned her Doctorate in Education Counseling Psychology. Her work in educational training, communication, leadership, drug and alcohol counseling and stress management led her to researching alcohol and substance use among adolescents. Dr. Black also has knowledge and experience in education, holding certificates in professional counseling, and working in such areas as Navy alcohol abuse prevention and alcohol and drug abuse among managers and supervisors in the military.
