This teaching/learning sequence is an adaptation of an experience in the EFL classroom; it is based on a comparative analysis of Balzac's novel La peau de chagrin (full text) and Andrew Niccol's 2011 feature film "In Time". Otherwise, technology should not be used to replace education; rather, it should be accompanied by didactic and pedagogical thinking that leads to an optimal learning experience. With a keen interest in this type of teaching/learning, our study focuses on the potential for innovation in educational and pedagogical practices in the EFL classroom. To this end, a comparative analysis of the key elements of written and filmic narratives leads learners to discover the phenomenon of intertextuality. The convergence of these two tools seems to be an effective method to increase their motivation and encourage them to develop the required skills. Thus, critical thinking manifests itself as a behavior of analyzing differences and responding to all types of texts.
