This book explores critical concepts and the realities of child labour in the extractive industries, particularly small-scale gold mining (galamsey) sector of Ghana. It represents a significant contribution to knowledge as research points to child labour in Galamsey significantly impacting on the total development of children. Specifically, the book explores the most glaring impact of child labour on education. More tellingly, the book adds to existing knowledge on the root causes of child labour in Galamsey. I recommend this book for students, professors, policy makers as well as ardent readers interested in gaining insights into the contextual realities of child labour in the small-scale gold mining industry globally, and Ghana to be specific.
