In addition, interpreting the Holy Spirit requires wisdom, knowledge, understanding and discernment. I'm not sure that's me - Oh well, as usual, "ok"..."yes" "Here I am Lord, Use me." I recalled one of the Words in the book - it said "Who will bring the goodness, the joy, the and hope - if not you?" 3/24/09). So here I go again...being the first to reluctantly assume this the role.

Dr. Istener was commissioned as a Pastoral Lay Minister for the Archdiocese of Miami into Chaminade-Nativity Community of Faith in Hollywood, Florida, a Catholic Charismatic community, and served for many years on their Pastoral Team. Professionally, she worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the field of Mental Health. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Social Work, followed by another Master's degree in Religious Studies as well as a Doctorate in Social Work from Barry University.When Dr. Istener returned to college to become a psychotherapist (at age 45), in an effort to be congruent, she also took a step in the direction of her faith by joining the Pastoral Ministry Program in the Archdiocese of Miami, which was just organizing at the time, in 1977. Two years later she had her first job as a social worker at South Florida State Hospital; and was commissioned into the Chaminade-Nativity Community of Faith, the first group of Catholic Charismatics in South Florida. Her professional life was spent working with the State, County and local Mental Health Center in crisis intervention with children, supervising psychotherapists treating adults and as Field Instructor with students from local universities entering the field. Within the Community she received the gifts of Prophecy and Healing, developed a private practice in the Healing of Memories for 7 years, and was on the Community's Pastoral Team, retiring this year.
