An award-winning international researcher, entrepreneur, and educator, Wael Badawy continues to lecture throughout the world. He is a world-leading researcher in video technology and an author of more than 500 peer-reviewed technical papers. Among his accomplishments are over 50 contributions to the development of international standards under the International Standards Organization (ISO). Some of his technical achievements include - Contributing to more than 75% of the hardware reference model for the compression standard for the widely used H.264 video coding format - Being named "Primary Contributor" to the development of the standard for platform-based design definitions and taxonomy (PBD 11.0, 2003) issued by the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance (VSIA) - Publishing 15 books and conference proceedings and co-authoring the international video standards known as MPEG4/H.264 - Representing Canada in the development of the standard dedicated to improving societal security (ISO/TC223) - Wae the chairman and head of the Canadian delegation of the Canadian Advisory Committee (CAC) on the ISO standard for telecommunications and information exchange between systems (ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC6) For his efforts, Wael has received over 69 international and national awards for highly technical, commercialization and innovative work, as well as his contributions to industry, academia, and society. Among so many things he enjoys giving back and being a mentor for the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, where he supports Canadian under 34 in starting and building their businesses.
