An enduring Lowcountry plantation. A legendary patriot refuge. A last stand for freedom. It thrilled Mercedes Ellison to be chosen to work as an architectural historian for Majestic Oaks, a plantation that endured and survived wars on American soil. The stately Georgian mansion features the Freedom Staircase, where legendary patriots stopped for refuge in their roles with the Continental Army in the American Revolution. Her client needs help to keep the plantation he inherited, which is steeped in the history of the Lowcountry of South Carolina, home of the Swamp Fox and four signers of the Declaration of Independence. There are also some unsolved mysteries on the property. Bringing them to light will help her client, and she finds clues in a secret passage used by the patriots. But then her archenemy dies in jail and his son hunts her down. Can she make a last stand for freedom from the vengeful vendetta that began with the murder of her ancestor on a stormy night in England? This novella is a complete story but is best appreciated when read as part of the series. Readers who will enjoy this book like strong Christian characters who live their faith when encountering challenges and supernatural settings.
Autorenporträt
Pamela Poole's love for the LowCountry of South Carolina inspires all her books and paintings, so she describes her work as "Southern Ambiance." She and her husband live in the Hilton Head, SC area, where they enjoy walks on the beach, palm trees, magnolias, and wildlife around the lagoon in their back yard. Her perspective on writing books and painting pictures is like that of the iconic artist Norman Rockwell, who once said he knew life was not ideal, but it should be, so he chose to paint that way. Pamela pursues the warm, whimsical, loveable, and ideal in her creativity. She hopes readers will laugh out loud, sigh, be inspired to reach higher, and feel refreshed, as if they strolled in warm Southern sunshine! Pamela writes clean fiction from an unapologetically Christian worldview, which is unusual in the lukewarm fare of today's inspirational book markets. As an artist and former art teacher, she also writes stories featuring artists and art perspectives that help any reader have a deeper appreciation for painting. Pamela lives life loving Jesus and her family as a wife, mother, and Gigi, and she is blessed with true friends. She is a member of various artist and author organizations. "Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us- to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20,21
